Nantes Roller Skate Competition #2

by Marta

Nantes Roller Skate Contest is going into round two. Despite Corona, the organizers announced the second edition of this cool event in France. The competition will take place on October 10th & 11th, at Le Hangar Skatepark.

While the roller festival is mainly an inline competition, the word should be spread that there will be a quad contest as well. And the recognition grows. While 2019, it was just a small side event of the big inlien happening and the winners were awarded gifts. This year there’s even a small prize-money of 250 Euros for the pro contest. It’s not much but considering the tinyness of the quad community it’s something. The amateur contestants can expect to be rewarded with gifts.

Compared to other extreme sports, roller skating still has only a small number of male skaters and contestants. So again, there will be only one all-gender-inclusive group to compete.

Judges wanted for the Roller Skate Contest

As of now it remains unclear whether spectators will be allowed. It all depends how the Covid-situation will look. So wear your mask. Check the event page on Facebook or Instagram for updates.  Also, there is still a lack of judges for the quad comp. So, if you have some experience and feel entitled, make sure to reach out to the organizers and apply.

Last year’s premiere was a success as the first edition had quite some names in the quad competition. The wins were taken by Bomba, Ragna and Barbie. Here’s a video recap from 2019:
